I think it's safe to say that most people love a good chocolate chip cookie. These are one of the things that when I went gluten free that I craved.

Not only is it hard to find gluten free cookies at the store, but homemade just tastes better! So here are the steps for finding the best gluten free ingredients and method I use to bake cookies.

Use the best quality of gluten free flour

Finding a good gluten free flour is the most important step for any baking. Some mixes make the end result taste funny or some make it too dry. Trust me, I've tried a ton of them.

The best flour I have found is the Cup4Cup gluten free flour. This is a blend of cornstarch, rice flour, brown rice flour, tapioca flour, milk powder, potato starch, and Xanthan gum. It tastes almost identical to normal flour in any baking or cooking you will do.

Now, I am allergic to all nuts so I can't use almond flour, (but I've heard that it makes things delicious) so if you want to use almond flour you should definitely try it!

Use your favorite chocolate chips

The way to make your cookies shine is to make them unique with your favorite type of chocolate chips. There are several brands and types, but I think it's safe to say that we all can have different favorites.

My two favorite types of chocolate chips would be Ghirardelli and Toll House milk chocolate chips.

I love Toll House because it gives you the classic taste of a chocolate chip cookie, but I also love Ghirardelli because it has a deeper rich flavor and makes your cookies taste amazing.

Whip your butter

3 bowls, one with butter, one with sugar, and one with brown sugar
3 bowls with ingredients

Most recipes say to whip your room temperature butter, but I feel like this step is skipped the most in order to make the process faster. So, we usually only blend the butter with the remaining ingredients.

But in order to get a lighter and aerated texture, we are actually supposed to whip the butter for 2-3 minutes! If you melt your butter it makes the cookies heavier and more greasy.

If you follow these extra steps then you should end up with some amazing gluten free cookies. Have fun and enjoy!
