Finding Gluten free food can be trick, especially in small towns

Welcome to Cedar City sign

Last year I moved to Cedar City to go to Southern Utah University, and it was originally really hard for me to find places to eat that had gluten free options. But, now that I've been here awhile, I've found a few really good places!

You still have to be careful and persistent about making sure the food doesn't get cross contaminated, but it's worth it.

Where to Eat

There a a couple of places that I really enjoy eating at (I'll highlight those places here in a second), but I first want to list most of the places that I have discovered.

  • Centro Woodfired Pizza

  • Pizza Factory

  • Pork Belly's

  • Brody's Mexican Restaurant

  • The Pizza Cart

  • Chili's

  • Costa Vida

  • Lupita's Mexian Restaurant

  • Jimmy Johns

  • Firehouse Subs

  • Chef Alfredo's

All of these places offer many different gluten free options and have been really safe!

Now I want to Highlight two of my favorite places to eat here in Cedar City.

Costa Vida

Costa Vida is a Mexican fast-food chain that specializes in things like burritos, salads, enchiladas, and many other options.

When going to Costa Vida, there are two things that I normally get; the steak salad or the steak enchiladas. The great thing about these are that they are extremely careful with your food once you tell them you have a gluten allergy.

Each staff member who is handling your food removes their gloves, washes their hands, puts on a new pair of gloves, and takes out a specific container of corn tortillas that are cooked separately to make sure they don't get contaminated by any gluten.

Not only that, but most of the options are gluten free. It's also really easy to check with their online allergen menu.

Chef Alfredo's

Chef Alfredo's is one of my all time favorites in Cedar City. This is a fancier option for when you're looking at finer dining and a sit down restaurant.

There are several gluten free options ranging from steak and salmon to several kinds of pasta.

My personal favorite is the Pasta Pomodoro with Parmesan encrusted chicken. Not only is it delicious, but they are extremely careful with cross contamination and are willing to make almost every pasta gluten free.

These are my favorites, but let me know where you've enjoyed eating in southern Utah and I'll try them when I get the chance!
